“Your own wickedness will correct you,
And your apostasies will reprove you;
Know therefore and see that it is evil and bitter
For you to forsake the Lord your God,
And the dread of Me is not in you,” declares the Lord God of hosts.
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
Go and proclaim these words toward the north and say,
‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord ;
‘I will not look upon you in anger.
For I am gracious,’ declares the Lord ;
‘I will not be angry forever.
Take words with you and return to the Lord .
Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity
And receive us graciously,
That we may present the fruit of our lips.
let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
And the Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel has proved herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
“How long will you go here and there,
O faithless daughter?
For the Lord has created a new thing in the earth—
A woman will encompass a man.”
Since Israel is stubborn
Like a stubborn heifer,
Can the Lord now pasture them
Like a lamb in a large field?
And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also.
Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”
It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit ,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”
“You who have forsaken Me,” declares the Lord ,
“You keep going backward.
So I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you;
I am tired of relenting!
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
“Why then has this people, Jerusalem,
Turned away in continual apostasy?
They hold fast to deceit,
They refuse to return.
Now after Amaziah came from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, set them up as his gods, bowed down before them and burned incense to them.
He did right in the sight of the Lord , yet not with a whole heart.
But turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers;
They turned aside like a treacherous bow.
What shall I do with you, O Ephraim?
What shall I do with you, O Judah?
For your loyalty is like a morning cloud
And like the dew which goes away early.
And those who have turned back from following the Lord ,
And those who have not sought the Lord or inquired of Him.”

O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine, Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself. I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;

Now the man Jeroboam was a valiant warrior, and when Solomon saw that the young man was industrious, he appointed him over all the forced labor of the house of Joseph. It came about at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him on the road. Now Ahijah had clothed himself with a new cloak; and both of them were alone in the field. Then Ahijah took hold of the new cloak which was on him and tore it into twelve pieces. 'Nevertheless I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him ruler all the days of his life, for the sake of My servant David whom I chose, who observed My commandments and My statutes; but I will take the kingdom from his son's hand and give it to you, even ten tribes. 'But to his son I will give one tribe, that My servant David may have a lamp always before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name. 'I will take you, and you shall reign over whatever you desire, and you shall be king over Israel. 'Then it will be, that if you listen to all that I command you and walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight by observing My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then I will be with you and build you an enduring house as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you. 'Thus I will afflict the descendants of David for this, but not always.'" Solomon sought therefore to put Jeroboam to death; but Jeroboam arose and fled to Egypt to Shishak king of Egypt, and he was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
